Lackadaisical New Orleans rapper Curren$y has a work ethic that belies his flow. Fresh off of his announcement of The Carrollton Heist, a sequel to 2011’s Covert Coup with the Alchemist, due later this year, he links with fellow workaholics Cool And Dre to drop off a quick-strike six-song EP of sorts in The Owners Manual. It’s only right that a dude with a syrupy flow and an affinity for old-school Chevrolets and inhaling large amounts of tree would come with the perfect soundtrack for hotboxing a whip. Spitta Andretti’s lazy, low-eyelid delivery is accentuated well by some slow, smooth, jazzy production from the duo. “Forecast” is a problem, with Spitta kicking his most energetic rhymes in while, which is still pretty low-key by most standards.
