Pet Shop Boys – “The Pop Kids”

Forever-arch synthpop legends the Pet Shop Boys have a new album called Super coming out this spring, and we’ve already posted the first single “Inner Sanctum.” Today, they’ve shared another one called “The Pop Kids.” It’s a hard-pounding house-pop track that doubles as a sort of origin story for the two guys in the group. On the track, Neil Tennant sings about moving to London and losing his mind to pop music every night: “We were young but imagined we were so sophisticated / Telling everyone we knew that rock was overrated.” It’s frankly amazing that the Pet Shop Boys are able to come out with a song that bangs this hard, this late in their careers. Listen below.

Super is out 4/1 on x2.
