Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments

I saw a cool music program on Netflix this week. It seems to be about a young woman named Stephanie and her nephew Max, who is an aspiring trumpeter. Through some unbelievable mixup, Stephanie is asked to perform at the Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival, but in packing for her trip she mistakenly takes Max’s scarf. How rude.

The idea that “Same Love” has become THE GAY RIGHTS ANTHEM OF THE #MILLENIAL GENERATION makes me want to go vote Republican. And I’m gay.

Man, I remember when “Midnight City” came out, and the track felt like a culmination of all the sounds Gonzalez had been playing with over the years. Then that sax just swelled, and I was sold for whatever that album was going to be. It was an intense, hype inducing song.

This is the opposite of that.

I don’t know if this is true or not but someone told me I’m the first LGBT person to comment on Stereogum. So this one goes out to the LGBT community.

Reading through all the comments on the earlier article (and the Ke$ha articles, both here and at the AV Club) I have come to the conclusion the best response/stance to take with this onslaught of horrible rape accusations is: yeah I have no idea!

Seriously, no matter what each person said, their comment was shit on. You take a “innocent until proven guilty” stance, and you’re attacked for not believing the victim. You take a “fully support the victim” stance, and you’re attacked for condemning a possibly innocent man and ruining his life if it’s a false accusation. It’s a fascinating read, I’ll be honest, I was highly engrossed reading down each comment, changing my own opinion back and forth. I still truly don’t know how to feel about this accusation, or the Ke$ha one, or any similar one (I do know how to feel about the Cosby oneS – he’s a piece of garbage). It’s a shitty situation all around, that’s all I’ve got.

The fact you have that much support for you comment is scary. I envision you having a lot of anxiety after you posted that, like, “is this cool? Is it too obvious? Fuck it, I’ll just do it. “(Checks the comment approval incessantly)

Stereogum is like the friend from high school who wants you to hang out and do meth with them.
