Seattle Police Release Photos Of Kurt Cobain’s Suicide Gun In Response To Public Records Request

22 years after Kurt Cobain took his own life, Seattle police have shared photos of the shotgun that he used to kill himself. Two years ago, they shared gruesome photos of the crime scene. And as CBS News reports, Seattle police responded to a public records act request from CBS News itself. CBS made the request because of a longstanding conspiracy-theorist rumor that police had melted the gun down to hide evidence. They didn’t do that. In the photos, you can see Detective Michael Ciesynski, the homicide detective who investigated Cobain’s death, holding the gun. I decided not to post those photos on Stereogum, but if you want, you can see the images here.
