Sorrow, Colin Stetson’s collection of mini opuses reimagining Gorecki’s 3rd Symphony, is quickly approaching its due date. We’ve heard a few extracts already, and all have been lush movements of grandeur. His latest, “Sorrow III (Extract I),” is more of the same. Wandering synths mix with belted opera vocals and classical flourishes that will make you either feel very small or want to do something impossibly epic as it plays. Listen.
Sorrow is out 4/8 via Kartel.
