Metz & Swami John Reis – “Caught Up”

Metz & Swami John Reis – “Caught Up”

Last year, Metz, the furious Canadian post-hardcore power trio, gave us their clanging, banging, utterly badass album II. And now, as an encore, they’ve teamed up with a kindred spirit to record a couple of new songs. “Swami” John Reis is a garage-punk veteran who’s spent decades in bands like Drive Like Jehu, Rocket From The Crypt, and Hot Snakes. For a new Record Store Day 7″, Reis booked himself some studio time with Metz, and the team ended up with two new songs, “Let It Rust” and “Caught Up.” “Caught Up,” which is not an Usher cover, walks the line between the freewheeling old-school honk of Rocket From The Crypt and Metz’s guttural bash. It’s pretty awesome. Give it a listen below, via Pitchfork.

“Let It Rust” b/w “Caught Up” is out 4/16, Record Store Day, on Reis’ Swami Records.
