Wire were a vital part of postpunk’s first generation, and now, 39 years after the release of their landmark debut album Pink Flag, they’re still cranking out some truly impressive music. While many of the band’s recent records have tended toward the same aggressive minimalism of their early records, their new album Nocturnal Koreans instead leans in the direction of their unheralded ’80s work. It’s prettier, synthier, and more concerned with matters of atmosphere. It’s almost pop music, which is a weird thing to say about a Wire album in 2016. And it’s also pretty great. We’ve posted the title track and “Internal Exile,” and now you can stream the entire album. Check it out below, via NPR.

Nocturnal Koreans is out 4/22 on the band’s own Pink Flag label.
