American Monoxide – “Hot Lava Express” (Stereogum Premiere)

American Monoxide is an outlet for Dimitri Manos’ lo-fi DIY home recordings. Manos makes wonderfully warped analog grooves drawing from several genres and stirring them together for an infectious auditory gumbo. His new batch of songs is entitled Web Content, and it’s his second full-length offering. The first taste is “Hot Lava Express,” a funky, low-tech trip. Intricate drums, homespun percussion, inventive found sound interjections, and an odd but fitting vocal sample combine for a romp impossible not to move to. If “Hot Lava Express” is any indication, Web Content is going to get the summer cracking with some undeniable rhythms. Check it out.

Web Content is out 6/10. The album will be self-released digitally, arrive via PIAPTK & Wooden Tooth Records on cassette, and various contributing imprints on vinyl. Pre-order it here.
