Flatbush Zombies – “Smoke Break/Fly Away” Video

I still can’t believe Beast Coasters and updated rap revivalists Flatbush Zombies managed a top-10 debut with 3001: A Laced Odyssey. Not because the album isn’t good, but because I never thought they’d flirt with breaking through to the mainstream. Anyway, like I mentioned before, 3001 is solid, and today Brooklyn’s living dead have give two of the turnt-down, more contemplative tracks on the album the visual treatment.

Both “Smoke Break” and “Fly Away” are a chill, trappy reprieve from the mosh-inducing madness of much of the album, and though they shine most on tracks with high energy, the visuals find the trio comfy slowing things down in rustic surroundings. The clip, directed by Fredo Tovar, Scott Fleishman, and Edwin, finds the glorious dead wandering through the woods and their thoughts with a homegirl, smoking plenty of tree while songs encourage listeners to do the same. Relax for five minutes on this hump day and check it out.
