Hello My Name Is Mrs. Greenthumb*

Not that there’s any reason to talk weddings at the ‘gum, but I know a future couple with two iPods and a huuuuge music collection. This article about DJing your wedding with an iPod got me thinking: what would be the indie wedding playlist?

The article links to this message board discussion of scoring your own nuptials but it also recommends terrible, terrible music:

4. Jump Around – House of Pain
[…]
6. YMCA by the Village People
7. Day Oh – Harry Belafonte
8. The Theme from the Loveboat
[…]
10. Play that Funky Music Whiteboy – Wild Cherry
11. Copa Cabana – Barry Manilow
12. Funkytown – Lipps Inc.
13. Celebrate or Jungle Boogie – Kool and the Gang
[…]
16. Mickey – Toni Basil
17. Tainted Love – Soft Cell
[…]
20. Centerfold – J. Geils Band

The rules are a)indie only (duh) b)at least two songs your Grandma might dance to c)at least one song that will get people who can’t dance to try popping & locking.

Don’t think there are a lot of pop-locking indie songs out there? Ok, then we’ll also count as “indie” rappers who are giving away a shitload of MP3s in defiance of their labels (via 3hive). But only those MP3s- if Digital Underground isn’t linking to the Humpty Dance, you can’t include it.
