Multi-instrumentalist Shane Leonard is known for his work with Stray Birds, Sean and Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek, S. Carey, and Field Report, and now he’s set to release an album of his own under the moniker Kalispell. It’s called Printer’s Son, and we premiered its first single “Windfall” back in April. Today, we’re sharing the rest. Opening track “In Chicago” is a beautiful soundscape of atmospheric melancholia, and although the remainder of Painter’s Son has a very different sonic approach, “In Chicago” sets the stage well for the rest of the the record with a refreshing banjo-infused, grassroots approach to the modern understanding of indie rock.
