After the massive, sweeping success of last year’s N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton, we are likely to see a wave of rap historical dramas. And later this year, we’ll get to see the life of Tupac Shakur dramatized onscreen. As previously reported, the unknown actor Demetrius Shipp, Jr. — who looks exactly like Shakur — will play the lead. And today, on the day Shakur would’ve turned 45, we get to see our first glimpse of Shipp in the role.
As Miss Info points out, the LA radio show Big Boy’s Neighborhood posted the movie’s trailer on Instagram. It looks appropriately epic and dramatic, and god knows Shakur’s life was insane enough to fill two hours with compelling images. I hope they pull it off. Here’s the trailer:
