Watch PWR BTTM Cover “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” In Orlando

In an amazing IMPOSE piece published in the wake of the tragedy in Orlando, there is a moment in which Band To Watch PWR BTTM’s Liv Bruce steps away from dinner with their tour mates in Pity Sex and Petal:

While members of Pity Sex and Petal eat their vegan burgers, Liv takes a guitar and finds privacy in an empty green room. I assume Liv is just messing around and sit down with them.

“Britty just tried putting on a PWR BTTM temporary tattoo on her neck, it was so funny,” I say. “What are you up to?”

“I’m trying to learn the chords to ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow,'” Liv tells me.

While Liv tries to memorize lyrics and sings softly, I continue to make idle small talk. Eventually, Liv says to me, “Sorry if I’m a little distant, I just have a lot on my mind today.” Somehow, I don’t yet make the connection to understand what Liv is doing.

Over the weekend, the joint tour made its way to Orlando, just a week after 49 people were killed and 53 more injured in a shooting at a gay night club. The bands announced that all of the show’s proceeds would be donated to the GoFundMe Pulse Tragedy Community Fund, and PWR BTTM took part of their set to allow Liv to perform their beautiful solo rendition of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” in tribute those that were killed and injured at the club. Check out video of the performance below, filmed by Emily Dubin.
