Toronto soul/jazz combo BADBADNOTGOOD’s followup to last year’s excellent Sour Soul, entitled IV, is quickly approaching. We’ve already heard “Speaking Gently,” “Time Moves Slow,” “Confessions Pt. II,” and “Lavender,” and today they sneak in one last peek of the album before its release next week.
The Charlotte Day Wilson-assisted “In Your Eyes” is a tender mid-tempo ballad about all of the emotions that come rushing in during the moment you realize you love someone for the first time. Wilson’s beautiful voice glides over soulful, retro bass, craftily syncopated drums, and soft orchestral flights. IV is shaping up to be one smooth, groovy body of work. Listen.
IV is out 7/8 via Innovative Leisure.
