Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments

Drake, Beyoncé, Miguel, Solange, Chance The Rapper, Scarface, Jay Z, Schoolboy Q, and Snoop Dogg are some of the artists who’ve shared powerful statements — musical or otherwise — in the midst of the latest police shootings of black Americans and last night’s retaliatory ambush by a Dallas sniper. It’s cool that someone (maybe) found an unreleased Sufjan album in a dumpster, but it’s hard to think about that when Trump supporters are calling for a race war. Thanks to everyone working to keep things civil in our comments sections and I hope you all find some solace this weekend.

I feel fairly face in assuming 98% of these jag offs would’ve passed the WhirlyBall dress code

So I went through all those dates, every one EXCEPT “Nov 13 2016” is a Friday. That November date is a Sunday so I’m a little thrown off by it, especially due to its placement randomly in the middle of the list.

The “Jul 2016” date with the smudged out number in the middle seems to be the date in question. Just like last year, I’m sure Frank would love to have his album come out the same month “channel ORANGE” did, his music seems to work so well in the summertime.

Let’s look at that smudged date. It looks like two numbers are smudged out, so Jul 8 seems out of the question, leaving the last three weeks of July as POTENTIAL release dates. Looking at the smudged number some more, the first smudge looks skinnier than the one to the right, leading me to believe it was originally a ‘1’.

My guess is that July 15, 2016 is the release date. But that’s strictly based on speculation.

(This has been another installment of “fun with numbers” by raptor jesus)

p.s. Oh, right, 311 stuff. That weird Nov 13 date? 11-13. #311TRUTHNOW

I feel like this statement is born from the dichotomy of thinking of people as either “bigoted” or “not bigoted” and to see these as permanent traits rather than behaviors we practice every day. Calling out these people is a surefire way to demonstrate that you fall on the right side of the divide, but it wrongfully excuses you from critically examining your own actions and assumes that people who have shown or currently show bigoted behavior lack the ability to ever learn or change. Instead of focusing on types of people that are unacceptable, he should focus on the types of behavior that cause these injustices and the ways each of us are complicit in perpetuating them.

I’m as liberal as they come, but this kinda rubs me the wrong way. I don’t want people banned from a Wavves show if they have these opinions. In fact, I want them to HAVE to go to a Wavves show. And I want the band to use their platform to inform and educate these people. Shutting them out just makes the feedback loop stronger.

THIS WEEK’S 5 LOWEST RATED COMMENTS

#5

Kirsty Mikel | Jul 6th Score:-19

For me, I would never feel safe with Hilary Clinton as president. That has nothing to do with her being a woman (look at Margaret Thatcher). In regards to domestic terrorism. Trump seems to solidify that he’s going to muscle more attention in that area. He won’t pacify the enemy. He won’t play nice and do an apology tour or that namby pamby nonsense. I don’t agree with all that he says but some of his points are intended to protect America, and truly you’d have to be a fool to dismiss EVERYTHING he says or is in favor for/against. Illegal immigration, domestic terrorism, mass shootings, black/white relations at a sad low…these are issues that are tough and divisive. I don’t feel that a liberal, politically correct democrat is going to make me feel safe. That’s the truth of it. If Clinton were somebody I respected, I would/might consider voting for her. But she is basically a facsimile, airbrushed entity that wants so desperately to be seen as America’s saving grace. Even Bernie the socialist who doesn’t understand why socialism is an innate failure is somebody I can stomach a bit more then Hillary. May I know plumb the depths of downvote oblivion until my ashes are ressurected on the top 10 lowest rated this weekend. http://www.activistpost.com/2016/01/hillary-clinton-brags-about-getting-a-pedophile-off-the-hook.html
