John Darnielle To Throw Ceremonial Pitch, William Tyler To Perform At Durham Bulls’ Fourth Merge Records Night

The fourth annual Merge Records Night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park goes down 8/4, and yesterday the label announced via Instagram that John Darnielle and William Tyler will participate. Darnielle will throw out the opening pitch, and Tyler will perform the national anthem; here are the details:

The Durham Bulls and Merge have teamed up for the fourth straight year to present the annual Merge Records Night at the DBAP, taking place on August 4. We will curate the Bulls’ at-bat music, as the two Bull City icons will celebrate baseball and music for that night’s 7:05 p.m. contest against the Norfolk Tides.

Prior to the game, Merge artists will be featured: The Mountain Goats’ frontman and songwriter John Darnielle will throw a ceremonial first pitch, and Nashville-based guitarist William Tyler will perform the national anthem. For the second year in a row, fans have the ability to purchase a Terrace View ticket and get a limited-edition sampler CD of this season’s featured at-bat songs for just $8.99. The ticket/CD combo is available at durhambulls.com by entering promo code MERGE.
