The Album Leaf are steady in promo mode for Between Waves, the followup to 2010’s A Chorus Of Storytellers. They’ve already shared “Back To The Start” and the title track, and their latest single is “Lost In The Fog.” It’s a thick, layered gumbo of genres with ringing guitars, ambient sweeps, classical flourishes, jazzy horns, drums with a little off-kilter swing, and playful synth patterns. The song switches in and out of sections fluidly, but also introducing new sounds somewhat jarringly at certain points which gives the instrumental the feel of a score and keeps it consistently engaging.
