DJ Quik Threatens To Sue YG Over Missing Credit

Veteran Compton beatsmith DJ Quik threatened to sue an anonymous Compton rapper six weeks ago, and it seemed like the unnamed rapper must have been someone of note for Quik to even mention it. Turns out it was YG, and Quik wants credit for engineering and recording one of YG’s biggest hits, the DJ Mustard-produced “My Nigga.” Last night, Quik took to Twitter to sound off on YG and his management in a tweetstorm that has since been deleted, and expressed intent to sue in one tweet, saying: “My Lawyer has you in his sights. You’ve fucked up.” He also hinted at taking things to the streets, warning: “be safe on the block I invented.” See the text from the string of tweets below.

@stampedemgmt, Y’all had me engineer and record My Nigga for @YG and did not give me credit. My Lawyer has You His sights. You’ve fucked up

YG responded this morning with a simple tweet of his own that seems to imply that Quik is a snitch:

Both YG and Quik are affiliated with Blood sets in Compton, so hopefully this doesn’t escalate into violence.
