Pianist and composer Chilly Gonzales has been breaking down the mechanics of pop music for laymen for a while now, most recently under the auspices of his new Beats 1 show Music’s Cool. The first episode deconstructed the music of Daft Punk and the second took a look at Weezer’s biggest hits, and, as Pitchfork points out, the latest installment is about Drake. Gonzales played on Take Care’s “Marvin’s Room,” and he uses the song as a jumping-off point to explore Drake’s sing-rapping. Listen below.
