This is an absolutely ridiculous day for new albums, with LPs from Bon Iver, Danny Brown, Solange, Nicolas Jaar, and way too many others arriving. But now here’s another record that you need to make time to hear. In the last few months, the instrumental electronic post-rocker Scott Hansen, who records as Tycho, has released a couple of stray songs, “Division” and “Epoch,” and made noises about dropping a new album. Today, out of the blue, that new album arrives. It’s called Epoch, and it’s got 11 new tracks, each of them with mythic-sounding one-word titles. On first listen, it’s a warm, sprightly, immediately engaging album. And you can hear the whole thing below, via Spotify.
Epoch is out now on Ghostly.
