Watch Green Day Play “Why Do You Want Him?” For The First Time In 15 Years In Brooklyn

Green Day’s song “Why Do You Want Him?” first appeared on their 1990 EP Slappy, and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong says it’s the first song that the band ever wrote. Before this weekend, they hadn’t played it live since 2001. But on Friday night, the band played a show — one that consisted mostly of requests — at the Brooklyn venue and record store Rough Trade, a room many times smaller than the ones they usually play. And at the show, they dusted off “Why Do You Want Him,” giving it a spirited run-though. Watch a fan-made video below.

Green Day’s new album Revolution Radio is out now on Reprise. Also of note: Green Day have just announced a North American 2017 arena tour with Against Me!, who were fucking great when I saw them in Charlottesville on Friday.
