Chaz Bundick Meets The Mattson 2 – “Star Stuff”

Chaz Bundick, the man behind Toro Y Moi, has been very active on side stuff as usual. He’s guested on Kool A.D.’s latest album Have a Nice Dream, got his ambient project Plum going, lended Rome Fortune some soulful beats for the VVORLDVVIDE PIMPSATION tape, and had a feature on the Avalanches’ long-awaited return Wildflower.

Today, Bundick adds yet another project to his list, linking up with the Southern California psych-jazz identical twin duo the Mattson 2 for the pragmatically titled Chaz Bundick Meets The Mattson 2 album, due early next spring. The lead single is the ’70s soul-inflected, psych rock-leaning “Star Stuff.” It’s a silky smooth, warped joint that’s easy on the ears, building to slyly evocative crescendo with intricate drums, ringing guitar, and gauzy vocals.
