“Waiting” is the debut single from London-based duo Giampaolo Speziale and Federica Caiozzo, whose temporarily appropriate band name is Malihini (Hawaiian for “newcomer”). Speziale and Caiozzo’s combined vocals are chilling and worrisome; they tell the tale of a prisoner unjustly sentenced to death and his lover who has grown delirious and drifting. Each has their own verse in response to one another with moans that fade into the ether over a simple synth refrain. Malihini’s members met in Rome in 2015, recently moved to London, and will be releasing more music in 2017 via Memphis Industries. Listen to “Waiting” below.
