Today might feel like the end of the world, but it’s not. Despite the immense, crushing despair that many of us are feeling right now, the earth will keep spinning away on its axis, and so will the album release cycle. Orlando emo warriors You Blew It! are putting out their third full-length, Abendrot, on Friday, and luckily, it’s exactly the kind of sad, honest, and beautiful art we could use right about now.
Produced by Into It. Over It.’s Evan Weiss, Abendrot finds the band maturing into a more subtle, nuanced sound. “We practice restraint more on this record than anything we’ve done before,” frontman Tanner Jones tells Billboard. “Typically, we’ve chosen a more maximalist approach to songwriting — guitars on guitars on guitars — whereas Abendrot favors a comparably minimalistic ethos on some songs and more traditional techniques on others.”
The whole album is streaming early today, and in the wake of Trump’s terrifying ascendancy, You Blew It! are also selling a new t-shirt and donating all the proceeds to Planned Parenthood. Listen to the record and find their note about the election below, and read our recent interview with the band here.
Abendrot is out 11/11 via Triple Crown Records. Pre-order it here.
