Proper Ornaments – “Cremated (Blown Away)”

Proper Ornaments – “Cremated (Blown Away)”

Proper Ornaments are the duo of James Hoare (Ultimate Painting, Veronica Falls) and Max Oscarnold (Toy), and they have an album called Foxhole on the way. The soothing vocals of the the band’s new single “Cremated (Blown Away)” are deceiving. The subdued track begins, “I could never live without her not running through my veins,” paired with echoing guitars and an upbeat pop melody. It then takes a morbid turn for the chorus: “I would like to be cremated and blown away.” As the song continues, it warps itself from part eulogy and part romantic reflection, reaching middle ground as a melancholic love letter. Check it out below for a haunting and sedative preview of Foxhole.
