Low – “Some Hearts (At Christmas Time)”

Zoran Orlic

Minnesota slowcore deities Low have a gift for making some of the most gorgeous Christmas music you ever heard, something you already know if you’ve ever heard their 1999 LP Christmas. Today, they’ve come out with an absolutely stunning new standalone single called “Some Hearts (At Christmas Time).” It’s an original song, built on a murmuring synth and a spare guitar figure and Mimi Parker’s otherworldly voice. I’ve played it three times in a row already, and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. Listen to it and read a Christmas message from the band below.

Low write:

To friends who have moved away and friends who have passed on this year. To one and all, especially those who are alone, we wish you a Merry Christmas and new hope for the new year. May we all find ways to lift each other.

With love,

Mimi, Alan and Steve

“Some Hearts (At Christmas Time)” is out now at iTunes, via Sub Pop.
