Back around Thanksgiving, the spaced-out R&B singer Jhené Aiko released her intense, feverish sex jam “Maniac.” Today, she’s shared the self-directed video, which takes the song’s title about as literally as it can be taken. Talking to Rolling Stone, Aiko says that she set the clip in a mental institution after doing research on all the unjust reasons for which women have historically been committed. But in practice, the video feels more like an excuse to get Aiko into restraints, a Hannibal Lecter mask, a dog cage, and various other bondagey scenarios. Check it out below.
“Maniac” is out now at iTunes, and Aiko’s sophomore album is on the way.
