Vancouver trio the Courtneys are the first non-New Zealand band ever to sign to Flying Nun, the great New Zealand indie label. That’s a big deal. Flying Nun isn’t just a label, really; it’s a complete aesthetic and a national identity. And, as it happens, the Courtneys fit in just fine, making the sort of sweet, fuzzy, serrated indie-pop that the label has long brought into the world. We’ve already posted their song “Silver Velvet,” and now they’ve shared the scrappy-but-incandescent “Tour.” Give it a listen below, via NPR.
The Courtneys’ new album The Courtneys II is out 2/17 on Flying Nun.
