Tim Darcy, frontman of the great Montreal postpunk band Ought, is going solo next month with the release of his debut album Saturday Night. We’ve already posted the video for Darcy’s impressive first single “Tall Glass Of Water,” and now he’s shared another one for a new song called “Still Waking Up.” The song itself is strummy and janky and lovely. It sounds a bit like Television covering the Everly Brothers, and that is a cool way to sound. U.S. Girls’ Meg Remy directed the video, and it looks a whole lot like a ’70s movie, with grainy cinematography and insanely long and slow zooms. In it, Darcy serenades a woman outside her window, and then the trippy graphics come in. Watch the video below, via The FADER.
Saturday Night is out 2/17 on Jagjaguwar.
