Superchunk – “Everything At Once (Acoustic)”

Superchunk – “Everything At Once (Acoustic)”

We’re sharing a brand new Superchunk song today as part of Rough Trade Publishing’s ongoing charity compilation A Song A Day Keeps The Pain Away. As with the Our First 100 Days series, a slew of notable musicians have contributed new music, all of which is available for a flat subscription fee. In this case the proceeds in this case benefit the Southern Poverty Law Center. A new song is going to subscribers every day for the first 90 days of 2017. So far artists including Eleventh Dream Day, Califone, A Place To Bury Strangers, Juliana Hatfield, King Khan, John Vanderslice, and Telekinesis have chipped in new music, and contributions from Saturday Looks Good To Me, Richard Buckner, Mary Timony, Jeff Rosenstock, and more are still to come.

As for today’s installment of the series, the acoustic version of Majesty Shredding closer “Everything At Once” finds the typically supercharged Superchunk tapping into the moody twilight ethos of Big Star and early Wilco (think “In A Future Age”). It’s a meditation on regret and the ceaseless march of time, with Mac MacCaughan lamenting, “So here’s a song about nothing and everything at once/ All the minutes and the months, nothing and everything at once.” Listen below.

Subscribe to the A Song A Day Keeps The Pain Away series at Bandcamp for a minimum donation of $20.17.
