Well I’ll be damned if this isn’t pseudo-intellectual posturing at its most eye-roll inducing.

I view Fleet Foxes in a 90s Pearl Jam situation. They spawned a lot of watered down imitators and then got retroactively lumped in with those lesser bands.

Remember in the 80’s when Elvis Costello could fart in a cup and critics around the world would laude every turgid bleat that shimmied out his ass? I assure you it was a thing that happened. And even as a monster Elvis Costello fan it got kinda embarrassing. Anyway. Beyonce’

Adele couldn’t hold Dusty Springfield’s jockstrap, but she is pleasantly boring and ¯\_(?)_/¯ it’s the Grammys. The Grammys love nothing more than awarding a pleasantly boring lesser version of something that was great 20-40 years ago. Santana wins a Grammy in 2001, Steely Dan wins in 2002, a soundtrack of traditional bluegrass songs from the 30s wins in 2003. Purple Rain loses to a fucking Lionel Ritchie album, and then The Love Below wins twenty years later (Speakerboxxx is much better than The Love Below, but you can be damn sure that Outkast didn’t win that year because of Speakerboxxx. It won because of “Hey Ya.”)
There’s a silver lining. Adele is hard to actively dislike. I hate when adults make Harry Potter references, but she’s a Hufflepuff, not a Slytherin (coughTaylorcough). Also, it may have been unnecessarily cruel for post-menopausal white women (and those of us who are post-menopausal white women at heart) to have to see Adele and Hilary lose in the same year.

there is no such thing as bad taste in music, how could such a thing be measured? I’m sure there’s more than a grain of humour in your post, but this is the sort of hipster shit that generally drives me insane.
