Kane Strang – “Hypochondria”

Kane Strang – “Hypochondria”

New Zealander Kane Strang is currently prepping the release of his Dead Oceans debut and follow-up to last year’s Blue Cheese. Last month we heard the warbling, fizzy lead single “Oh So You’re Off I See,” and today Strang has let loose another new, non-album track as part of the anti-Trump charity singles series Our First 100 Days.

“Hypochondria” is the potent dose of wistful melancholy we’ve come to expect from the songwriter, finding Strang sounding paradoxically buoyant as he sings of being unable to “see the morning,” stretching out and repeating the last word until it looses all meaning in delirium. Meanwhile, “I’m twice as stressed and stress is bad for my health,” is a thought I have had routinely during this administration, which makes “Hypochondria” a fitting addition to the series.
