Zotz are a tough, intense, spartan postpunk band from Mexico City. They sing in Spanish, and their music is authoritative and urgent while still being gothy and atmospheric. It reminds me of that late-’70s/early-’80s moment when goth was just beginning to emerge from punk but hadn’t quite become its own thing yet. Over the weekend, the band released a new two-song single, and both of the songs, “Vacìo” and “Fatal,” are really great, especially the latter. Listen to both of them below.
