Right now, the Mountain Goats are touring behind their fantastic new album Goths. They have been one of the best live bands out there for a long, long time, and if that’s not reason enough to go see them, consider the remote possibility that a B-52 might show up. Last night, the band played Atlanta’s Terminal West, and during the first encore, Cindy Wilson, who has sung for the B-52’s ever since 1977, came to the stage with them. Together, Wilson and John Darnielle sang the Mountain Goats’ forever-rousing survival anthem “This Year.” Tragically, none of the videos I’ve found online actually feature Wilson singing, but they do feature her doing that amazing pogo-shimmy thing that she’s done with her band since forever. It is a life-affirming sight. Watch it below, via Brooklyn Vegan.
Goths is out now on Merge.
