A few years after the breakup of the Go-Go’s, former frontwoman Belinda Carlisle scored a massive solo hit with 1987’s cheeseball ’80s-pop nugget “Heaven Is A Place On Earth.” It’s a great song, and in a recent session for the AV Club’s long-running AV Undercover video series, the Toronto synthpoppers Austra tried out a cover of the song. Katie Stelmanis, Austra’s excellent singer, gave the song a completely sincere reading, wringing out all the song’s drama. Watch their performance and the song’s original video below.
