There are few bands who know more about slinky, sexy pop songs than the xx. And during a recent visit to the BBC’s Live Lounge, the xx tried their hand at covering one that’s aged beautifully. They gave their take on Justin Timberlake’s immortal 2006 smash “My Love.” Nobody attempted the T.I. verse, which makes me slightly sad but which was unquestionably the right choice. Instead, Oliver Sim sang a few bars of “LoveStoned,” another song from Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds. The best part: Watching Jamie xx assemble his own version of Timbaland’s beat in real time. During that same session, the xx also played a live-in-studio version of “Dangerous,” a song from their 2017 album I See You. Watch both performances below.
