Beijing duo Tom Ng and Joshua Frank make transnational blues with swarming psychedelic borders as Gong Gong Gong. Drawing from the sounds of West Africa to Southeast Asia to Bo Diddley, they’ve forged rushing, pulsing rhythms with lyrics that recount Cantonese tales of absurdity, lust, and love. Their debut US single “Siren 追逐劇” is out today off their forthcoming Wharf Cat 7″.

The track is all guitar and bass, racing froward recklessly. Even without a proper drumbeat, they’ve captured that feeling of being alive on the road, of the speed and the gravel and the fear. Ng’s lyrics are immediate and condensed, chronicling a chase between a horse and a car. It’s a relentless pursuit until the sky cracks open and light shines in.
