Cover Tunes Today … With Your Host Fred Durst

Today MTV News catches up with Fred Durst, who was only talking “because his record label was making him promote Limp’s new Greatest Hitz.”

“A lot of times that throws the wrong signal out there,” Durst explained. “That’s sometimes a cash-in time for any artist out there, and they always come out at Christmas. So I don’t think any of us were ready for a greatest-hits record at this time, but it is what it is.”

Since the kids turned their back on Bizkit, Fred’s stayed in the news by making out with Halle Berry in a music video, stalking Paris Hilton, and leaking homemade porn. Now, he tells MTV News, it’s “time to make an impact with the unexpected.”

So here’s Fred doing something we didn’t expect … ruining two songs at once. Download the band’s double cover of Mötley Crüe’s “Home Sweet Home” + The Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony.”

Limp Bizkit – “Bittersweet Home” (MP3)

Fred talks up the tune on his blog:

Bittersweet Home has a message. it doesn’t has a style that is supposed to please you or anyone. When the music is heavy, so is the head. When the music softens, so does the heart. The balance is what it is all about. Juxtaposition. Obligation. Fulfillment. Win. Lose. Win. Stop. Begin. Figure it out when you care. Until then just be lost as we all are at many moments in our lives.

You do not want to hear the truth. You can’t handle the truth. Or can you?

Wha?
