The South Korean pop star/rapper hybrid CL — formerly of K-pop giants 2NE1 — has been trying to break through internationally for years now in a long and convoluted saga that has, at times, involved Hollywood music industry figure Scooter Braun, and has always involved the specter of K-pop conglomerate YG Entertainment, who CL was under contract with for more than a decade.

Over the last few years, CL has expressed the desire to release new music, but no new songs have come from her since 2016’s English-language song “Lifted,” which made her the first Korean solo female artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 when it came out. (It peaked at #94.) She also has a string of bangers from earlier in the decade, including 2015’s “Hello Bitches” and “Doctor Pepper,” which was a collaboration with Diplo, Riff Raff, and OG Maco.

In November, CL announced that she had left her longtime home at YG Entertainment, and this month she’s put out her first new songs in three years, a pair of tracks that are, according to Billboard, going to be included on a new project called In The Name Of Love 1.

These two songs — “+DONE161201+” and “+REWIND170205+” — both have dates in their titles pinning them to 2016 and 2017, respectively, which means that CL has been sitting on them for quite a while. Both come with low-budget music videos. The one for “+DONE161201+” features a bunch of musicians singing along to the track, including Grimes (2ms7). Check both songs out below.
