Last month, Arthur Lee became the first adult in Tennessee to receive a bone marrow transplant via stem cells from an umbilical cord. Which is bittersweet news, as the legendary Lover continues to battle acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
The stars came out tonight for a benefit concert (Lee’s uninsured and all proceeds go to his medical bills). Alec Ounsworth! Yo La Tengo! Ryan Adams! But let’s give it up for the fogies: Ian Hunter had everyone singing along to “All The Young Dudes” and Robert fucking Plant performed his favorite Forever Changes track, “Old Man,” for the first time.
Don’t own folk-rock masterpiece Forever Changes? Well, go buy it! But first download Calexico’s version of its standout track:

Another benefit’s scheduled Wednesday at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go, “where it all began 40 years ago.”
As for Ryan Adams, at this very moment an anxious and packed Bowery Ballroom awaits the alt-country star’s second set of the night (tickets are going for $150!). Amrit’s on the scene, so review and photos TK.
