This month saw the release of All Together Now, an album of Beatles covers sung by children and joined by the likes of Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle, The Bangles, Rachael Yamagata, and Steve Conte of New York Dolls and The Contes. The Little Monster label is distributing the record in a storybook package, hoping that kids and ‘rents will bond over the Fab Four’s brilliance during the holidays. But really, this is the perfect opportunity for hipster parents to begin training their kids to out-cool their classmates. ‘Tis the season!
Kidzfork has MP3 of Jason “Lytle Monster” Lytle’s “All You Need Is Love.” Cute. Here’s a non-album exclusive of Steve Conte taking lead vox on “Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey.” Fun fact: This song is the longest title in the entire Beatles catalogue.
If you dig and want some more, here are some Microsoft-friendly streams (sorry Mac people — we’re up a creek, too). Or you can just buy the record here.
And while we’re spreading the Beatles love, today marks the release of the experimental album LOVE that we told y’all about. Well now you can listen to the entire record before you buy as part of an online listening party by heading here. Once you login, you can add your “pin” to a world map, allowing you to be seen and see all the other proud pin-heads. There’s also some video footage of interviews with Paul, Ringo, Yoko, Olivia Harrison, and George Martin about the making of the album.
And in keeping with today’s Stereogum spirit, what does Noel Gallagher have to say about the matter? (via NME)
It’s a pointless exercise … (I turned the collection off) after five songs.
