The video for “The Fear” — Lily’s first single from this new set of tunes out next year — took us into her trailer, unexpectedly unveiling a frilly, elegant, pink-and-blue choreographed world. She’s paying faux-homage to the world of flash and femininity and class, but she looked convincingly flashy, feminine, and classy doing it. The album art for It’s Not Me, It’s You takes the split personality a step further: Lil’s reposed and pretty in pink, but also wearing a black veil? Smiling in a nice dress, but wearing an item fit for mourning … take her at her word about not knowing how she’s meant to feel anymore.
It’s Not Me, It’s You is out 2/10 via Capitol. There’s a tour coming this spring.
