Animal Collective Announce Early Vinyl Release, More Listening Parties

Merriweather Post Pavilion’s still on track for an official digital release on January 20th, and an unofficial piecemeal web release in the weeks prior, but impatient fans of legitimate music acquisition will want to know this: Animal Collective’s making their forthcoming ninth album available two weeks early (1/6) in North America, on deluxe 2xLP 180 gram gatefold vinyl. That includes a full album download in the format of your choice (MP3 or WAV) on 1/20. And if that’s still not soon enough for you, that’s probably because you’ve probably heard “My Girls” and “Brothersport.” AC feel your pain, and have selected a few cities for listening parties in early January. Here’s the list:

Also that list of cities will grow, including listening events in Atlanta, Boulder, Milwaukee, Nashville, Salt Lake City, San Diego, etc. Keep refreshing the Animal Collective site for specifics on those as they’re available.
