Admiral Radley – “I Heart California” Video (Stereogum Premiere)

When we premiered Admiral Radley’s “I Heart California” I mentioned the complicated relationship singer Jason Lytle (formerly of Grandaddy) must have with his home state. The “…drugs fall out of diaper bags” line is telling, as are all the Californian images in this new video. The band do it karaoke style, with the lyrics scrolling beneath clips of bikini girls, skateboarders, and Arnold Schwarzenegger flexing, as well as images of Northern California forests, miners, and redwood trees. By the end it’s hard to tell if Lytle’s whispered “… I’ll be here when I die” is a good or bad thing.

I Heart California is out 7/13 via The Ship. They’ll tour California first, then move eastward:
