The ‘Gum Drop LXXIV: Hear New Fol Chen Remixed By Rafter, Win A Guitar Courtesy Of Flight Of The Conchords

From Sufjan Stevens covering Castanets to Shara Worden helping out DM Stith, Asthmatic Kitty acts love in-house collaborations. In this week’s Drop, San Diego-based Rafter Roberts joins the party with a remix of AK labelmates Fol Chen’s “No Wedding Cake.” (The original appears on Fol Chen’s Pale Fire-referencing Part I: John Shade, Your Fortune’s Made.) We asked Rafter about his re-working of the electro-pop band’s anthem: He went in depth about the process and why it was his intention to “take the piss out of” the idea of a “remix.” You can listen to Rafter’s handiwork, while you read his thoughts on it, and mull over whether or not he succeed.

This week we also offered the chance to win an Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar and sundry Flight Of The Conchords swag.

One Grand Prize winner gets an Epiphone DR-100 Acoustic Guitar, courtesy of Flight Of The Conchords, along with FOTC Season One DVD, a FOTC Season Two poster, and FOTC guitar picks. Two runner ups get the FOTC Season One DVD, FOTC Season Two poster, and FOTC guitar picks. It’s all in celebration of the Grammy award-winning New Zealand comedy duo who returned to HBO for their second season of Flight Of The Conchords on 1/18. Here’s the guitar:
