Fran Healy Wreckorder Album Art

Travis frontman Fran Healy will release his debut solo album Wreckorder in October. The album was recorded in Vermont, New York, and Berlin, where Healy lives. It features guest appearance by Neko Case, Tom Hobden from Noah And The Whale, and Paul McCartney (Healy became a vegetarian as a way of saying thank you to McCartney). This cover of Teen Dream standout “Zebra” is an iTunes exclusive bonus for the album. (Previously you heard the PS22 children’s chorus tackle “Zebra“). The first thing you’ll notice is Healy’s singing voice is a little higher than Victoria Legrand’s. Healy’s version is just lighter all around. For example, the cymbal that punctuates the chord changes shimmer instead of crash in his cover. By the way, that’s Keane’s Tim Rice-Oxley on piano. Listen:

Wreckorder is out 10/5 via Ryko. Pre-order the album here. He’s got a New York album release party at City Winery 10/7, but it’s sold out.
