Boston-born, San Francisco-to-Seattle trio Wildildlife follow two Crucial Blast-backed collections Six and Peas Feast with their first Volcom full-length Give In To Live. (They also did a split 7″ with Harvey Milk for the label.) The earlier albums offered an interesting mix of maniacally sludgy, colorfully psychedelic and poppy space rock with more downcast, doomed, and/or tripped-out noise excursions and freakouts. The guys take it up a few notches and add additional layers (and wrinkles) on Give. It was produced by Royal Trux/RTX howler Jennifer Herrema, who lends the proceedings a Twin Infinitives vastness along with an unexpected polish. It also sounds like they got an early listen to Spiral Shadow when expanding their “Sabbath-on-Surfers” sound. Take a listen to the title track. You might also get a sense of the Meat Puppets in all the shards.
