Parker Sprout’s vintage Minneapolis psych sextet Velvet Davenport usually make me think about the Strawberry Alarm Clock, the Seeds, the Yardbirds, and the Kinks (and to a lesser degree, past collaborators Ariel Pink). The mellow, hazy vibe continues on “Warmy Personal Routine,” a track from their forthcoming Warmy Girls. Nothing revolutionary, but the band’s echoed, welcoming (and yeah, “warmy”) sound is a large part of its charm.
