STEREO★GUN 2010: All Night Long Flyer

If live music is a thing you enjoy, you could do worse than to visit our fair city next week — from like noon until whenever you get tossed out of your evening destination, from Tuesday to Saturday, there will be bands playing all over the Lower East Side, and Williamsburg, and other neighborhoods you’ve read about in trend pieces on the youth and their culture. We’ve joined the din with a party our own, in conjunction with our friends at PopGun Booking, filling the two floors at Santos Party House with a bunch of newer bands tapped straight from the ranks of the Stereogum40, and one headliner so wonderful we aren’t even allowed to legally say its name until it hits the stage. So wonderful. So legal.

Now the public service announcement: RSVP at and get in for the reduced rate of $5, otherwise it’s $10, and possibly not getting in, and that is money better spent in other ways, and possibly missing an evening that will shape your young adult life maybe.

You already know all of this. Something you didn’t know: The downstairs afterparty now has its talent — the keyboard-controlled cosmic-dance and astral-pop of Brooklyn-via-Ann Arbor synth-siren Laurel Halo. Her 1:30AM set feeds into the upstairs afterparty, DJd by the inimitable Kingdom, whose beats themselves play like a dark distillation of the air at an afterhours party. We called the shindig All Night Long, in tribute to Scott’s dearly departed cat Lionel Richie, but also because that’s about how long we plan to do this. Cue Laurel’s “Supersymmetry” into Kingdom’s remix of Sleigh Bells’ “Tell ‘Em” we posted this week to get a sense. And call out of work Thursday.

If you don’t have those MP3s, or not in that order, or want to know more about how the rest of the bands on that flyer sound, please click on for a little mix featuring a key track from each band on our bill, sequenced in the order you will see them on Wednesday night, for free, for download, for keeps.
