Baths – “Stupor”

Here’s another helium-huffed non-Cerulean track from L.A.’s heartfelt beat-operant Baths, again coming via free EP release compliments of, appropriately enough, Heart Music. The last was “Nordic Laurel,” this free EP brings “Stupor,” less laced with electronics than the core of the Cerulean LP that landed Baths (aka Will Wiesenfeld) squarely within the four corners of the Stereogum40; the backbeat is real, and live, the guitars stutter in, a tanpura drones for a moment, there is laughter, there is a hook that is loopy and lopsided and right for a song with this title.
